Forma V
What it is
Forma V is a non-invasive vaginal rejuvenation treatment that uses bipolar radiofrequency (RF) energy to tighten the vaginal canal and external vulvar tissues (labia, perineum), improve tissue tone, and stimulate collagen/elastin production.
The treatment is typically performed in-office, requires minimal (or no) downtime, and is aimed at intimate wellness more than cosmetic bulking.
How it works
- A special applicator (probe) is inserted into the vaginal canal and/or applied externally over the vulvar/perineal area. The device delivers controlled RF heat to the target tissues.
- The RF energy heats the deep layers of mucosal and sub-mucosal tissue, triggering collagen contraction and new collagen/elastin synthesis over time.
- The built-in safety system monitors tissue temperature (“Acquire, Control, Extend” technology) so the heating is therapeutic but remains safe.
- The end result is improved tissue tone, tighter vaginal canal walls, better external vulvar appearance and potentially increased lubrication/sensation and reduced urinary symptoms.
What it treats & benefits
Indications
- Vaginal laxity (looseness) after childbirth, aging or weight changes.
- Vulvar tissue laxity (labia majora/minora) or external tissue appearance/feeling changes.
- Genitourinary symptoms such as vaginal dryness, reduced lubrication, discomfort with intercourse (dyspareunia), and mild stress urinary incontinence.
- Reduced intimate sensation or self-perceived changes in vaginal health/appearance.
Key Benefits
- Non-surgical, minimal downtime.
- Quick sessions (~20-30 minutes in many cases) and can be performed in an office setting.
- Tissue remodeling that may lead to improved tone, lubrication, and sexual comfort/satisfaction.
- Supports intimate wellness and may bolster confidence and quality of life.
Treatment process & expectations
- Consultation: Review of intimate health, symptoms (laxity, dryness, incontinence, sensation changes), past pregnancies/surgeries, medical history.
- Pre-treatment preparation: Typically minimal; patients may be asked about recent infections, PAP status, and to avoid waxing/irritation in the area if external treatment is involved.
- Session: Gel is applied, probe inserted (if internal) and RF energy is applied in a controlled manner. Patient feels warming but comfortable. Duration ~30 minutes.
- Aftercare/Downtime: Very little. Normal activities can usually resume quickly. Some practices recommend avoiding intercourse or strenuous pelvic activity for ~1 week.
- Session plan & results: A series of 2-4 sessions spaced ~4-6 weeks apart is common for optimal effect; maintenance treatments may be yearly. Results often continue to improve over several weeks as collagen remodels.
Candidate suitability & limitations
Good candidate if you:
- Experience vaginal or vulvar laxity, dryness, discomfort with intercourse, or mild urinary symptoms and prefer a non-surgical approach.
- Have realistic expectations: improvement rather than dramatic surgical correction.
- Are in generally good health with no active infections, significant pelvic organ prolapse, or recent major pelvic surgery.
