WiQo Reverse Peel
What it is
The WiQo Reverse Peel is a professional, three-phase chemical peel system designed specifically for the treatment of hyperpigmentation, melasma, post-inflammatory pigmentation and uneven skin tone.
It is formulated by WiQo (GPQ Srl, Italy) and includes three steps (Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3) along with a neutraliser and post-treatment at-home serum.
How it works
- Phase 1: A TCA (trichloroacetic acid) + hydrogen peroxide + kojic acid formula that inserts the active ingredients into deeper layers for melanin oxidation and initial lightening effect.
- Phase 2: A layer of lactic acid + phytic acid (iron-chelating) applied to pigmented zones to further inhibit melanin formation and support exfoliation.
- Phase 3: A deeper exfoliation blend containing hydroxy acids (glycolic, mandelic, salicylic) plus phytic acid to refine surface texture, remove pigmented cells and promote an even tone.
- After the peel phases, a Neutraliser and a Reverse Serum are applied; the serum contains antioxidants, niacinamide, tranexamic acid and other lightening/brightening actives.
What it treats & benefits
Indications include:
- Melasma and dermo-epidermal hyperpigmentation.
- Uneven skin tone, sun-spots / “age” spots, post-inflammatory pigmentation.
- Works on various skin types, including higher Fitzpatrick types, due to reduced risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation when used correctly.
Key Benefits:
- Multi-level action (deep vs surface) to target pigment formation and removal.
- Less inflammation and visible downtime compared with many aggressive peels: the product materials emphasise “no post-inflammatory pigmentation” as an advantage.
- Customisable depth and tolerance according to skin sensitivity and pigment severity.
Treatment process & expectations
- Consultation: Skin type, pigment history (melasma, sun damage), prior treatments, active skin health review.
- Session: Cleanse → Phase 1 application (massaged into pigmented areas) → wait → Phase 2 → neutraliser → Phase 3 (optional depending on protocol) → neutraliser → Reverse Serum & SPF. Protocol notes emphasise monitoring for burning/irritation.
- Schedule: Typically a series of 3 or more sessions spaced ~7–30 days apart depending on pigment severity and skin type.
- Downtime: Mild redness, possible flaking or peeling in some cases but much less than traditional deep peels. Many patients return to normal activities.
- Results: Over time skin tone becomes more even, pigmented spots fade, texture improves, and brightness increases. Because correct after‐care and sun protection are critical, results depend heavily on compliance.
Candidate suitability & limitations
Good candidate if you:
- Have stubborn pigmentation (melasma, age/sun spots), uneven tone, or resistant discoloration.
- Want more than a superficial glow facial—looking for a corrective, pigment-targeted treatment.
- Are prepared to follow strict sun-protection and home-care instructions post-treatment.
