What it is
RHA 2 is part of the RHA® Collection of “Resilient Hyaluronic Acid” (HA) dermal fillers. It’s formulated specifically for dynamic facial areas — zones of frequent motion (talking, smiling, chewing) — to provide a natural look both at rest and in movement.
RHA 2 is FDA-indicated for injection into the mid-to-deep dermis for the correction of moderate to severe dynamic facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds) in adults aged 22 or older.
How it works
- The “resilient” HA gel uses a combination of cross-linked and non-modified HA chains to better mimic natural HA in the skin. This allows the filler to flex and move with facial expressions rather than appear stiff.
- When injected into the mid-to-deep dermis in targeted wrinkles/folds, it adds support and volume while integrating into the surrounding tissue in a way that preserves motion.
- Because of its formulation, RHA 2 is suited for areas that experience repeated motion and where maintaining natural expression is important.
What it treats & benefits
- Ideal for moderate dynamic wrinkles/folds — e.g., nasolabial folds, “accordion” radial cheek lines, vertical lip lines, lip augmentation, under-eye tear troughs (off-label).
- Excellent for areas with movement (around mouth, cheeks) because it aims to perform well in motion (“beautiful at rest, flawless in motion”).
- Provides natural-looking results with good integration, less stiffness or “over-filled” feel compared to some older fillers.
- Results may persist up to ~12-15 months depending on area treated, individual metabolism, and skin condition.
Treatment process & expectations
- Consultation: Assessment of facial anatomy, movement zones, skin condition, patient goals.
- Injection session: Typically takes ~20-30 minutes depending on area(s) treated. Fine-gauge needle used into mid-to-deep dermis per product instructions.
- Downtime: Minimal. Common temporary side-effects include swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness. These usually resolve in days.
- Onset & durability: Some improvement is visible immediately; full settling may take days. Many patients enjoy durability of ~12 months or more.
- Post-care: Follow injector’s recommendations (avoid heavy exercise, excessive heat, etc immediately after). Check with your provider for specific instructions.
Candidate suitability & limitations
Good candidate if you:
- Have moderate dynamic wrinkles/ folds (not deeply static or purely structural volume loss).
- Need a filler that preserves natural movement and expression (especially around mouth/cheeks).
- Have relatively good skin elasticity and realistic expectations about filler outcomes.
