What it is

RHA 3 is part of the RHA® Collection (Resilient Hyaluronic Acid) family of dermal fillers, engineered to perform beautifully in areas of high facial movement. It is FDA-approved for injection into the mid-to-deep dermis to correct moderate to severe dynamic facial wrinkles and folds (e.g., nasolabial folds) and for lip augmentation (increasing fullness of lips) in adults aged 22+.  

How it works

• The gel uses a unique manufacturing process (“Preserved Network Technology”) that preserves more of the natural hyaluronic acid (HA) structure so it more closely mimics the body’s own HA.  
• It is designed to flex and move with facial expressions rather than staying rigid — key for “dynamic” zones (smile lines, laughing lines, lips).  
• Upon injection, the HA gel provides immediate smoothing/filling of the fold or lip augmentation, and over time supports the tissue while gradually being absorbed.
• Contains lidocaine for injection comfort (per the FDA summary).

Treatment process & expectations

• Consultation: Evaluating facial anatomy, zones of movement, volume/contour deficits, skin condition, and patient goals.
• Injection session: Typically ~20-30 minutes depending on number of syringes and areas treated. The product is injected into the mid-to-deep dermis (or lip mucosa/vermillion for lip augmentation) using fine gauge needles.  
• Onset & durability: Improvement is visible immediately; full settling may take days. Many patients see results lasting up to ~12-15 months.  
• Downtime & side-effects: Minimal downtime. Common temporary side-effects include swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness, lumps/bumps, and itching at injection site. Most resolve within days.  

Candidate suitability & limitations
